Overview

The popular Nissan Altima which was ranked number one in segment in the 2009 J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study (IQS), zips in to 2010 model year with fresh exterior styling, refined interior treatments and a host of technology enhancements to its navigation and entertainment systems. The 2010 Altimas are available in three distinct models - Altima Sedan, Altima Coupe and Altima Hybrid.

Power and performance

The two-door five-passenger 2010 Nissan Altima Coupe offers smooth performance and unique styling. The front-wheel 2010 Nissan Altima Coupe is available with two engine types. The 2.5 S hosts a 175-horsepower 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine and the 3.5 SR comes with a 270-horsepower 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve six-cylinder engine. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on both trims, while Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with manual mode is optional.

Body and styling

Among the many changes for all 2010 Altima Coupe are a restyled hood, grille and front bumper, new wheel designs, standard Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) on all models, revised interior fabric and finishers, new exterior colors and revised option package content. In addition, the previous Altima 3.5 SE designation has been renamed the 3.5 SR. The new available premium audio packages include a Bose? AM/FM audio system with nine speakers, 4.3-inch color display, USB port with iPod connectivity, Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System, MP3/WMA CD-ROM playback, XM Satellite Radio (XM subscription required, sold separately) and RearView Monitor. A next-generation Nissan Hard Drive Navigation System with 6.5-inch VGA color touch-screen display (replaces the 4.3-inch display), 9.3GB Music Box for music storage and playback, advanced map data including speed limit advisories, Zagat restaurant guide, XM NavTraffic and XM NavWeather (XM subscription required, sold separately), Bluetooth Streaming Audio, DVD player and an RCA input for auxiliary audio/video connectivity is also available.

Safety Features

High-tech safety equipment available on the 2010 Nissan Altima Coupe includes six standard airbags such as roof-mounted curtain side-impact airbags for front and rear-seat outboard occupant; dual-stage supplemental front airbags with seat-belt and occupant-classification sensors; and seat-mounted side-impact supplemental airbags for driver and front-passenger; four-wheel anti-lock braking system; front seat belts with pre-tensioners and load limiters; front-seat active head restraints; 3-point seat belt system; tire pressure monitoring system; energy-absorbing steering column; lower anchors and tethers for children; pipe-style steel side-door guard beams; hood buckling creases; and vehicle immobilizer system.
